Orangeville is the seat of Dufferin County. For a fairly small town, Orangeville is big on convenience. There are quite a few upscale shops and other businesses in the downtown area and some big-box stores located in the Fairgrounds Shopping Centre. Or you can enjoy a day of shopping in nearby Toronto if you like.

The town is also home to a number of manufacturers including Clorox of Canada and Rochling Engineering Plastics. Orangeville has nearly a dozen banks, too, including the Royal Bank of Canada and the Bank of Montreal. There are a number of public and private schools, including a satellite of Georgian College and plans for the Humber College branch to accommodate 2,000 students by 2017.

Art is big in Orangeville, with a yearly jazz festival and frequent concerts and plays throughout the year. The local artists are famous for recycling maple trees that have reached the end of their life cycle; you can see the sculptures carved from these beautiful trees placed throughout the town.
